Black Soap • Melanin Maid
Black African soap, also known as "Ose Dudu," is an organic soap, brown colored, and malleable. The term “Ose” means soap, while "Dudu” means black, translating to "black soap." Organic black soap is easily differentiated from synthetic black soaps. It originated from West Africa and is primarily made from palm tree oil, sheer barks, and burnt plantain leaves. African black soap has a unique feature, you may experience a burning feeling when using, no need to worry, that's the ingredients working on the skin to cleanse the impurities and helps manage direct sunlight's effects on the body. It is rich in iron, vitamin A and E and contains antioxidant and moisturizing properties. African black soap has an organic essence that effectively repairs worn-out cells. Furthermore, it is antifungal.
How is it made?
First, the leaves and bark are sun-dried and then roasted in a kettle or pot at an even„ constant temperature, which is important to ensure color, texture, and smell Then water and various oils – palm oil, coconut oil, palm kernel oil (including shea butter and cocoa pod powder) - are added to the mixture and stirred for at least a day. After that, the "soap” is left to set for two weeks to cure. Different tribes and communities in Africa have adopted their own specific blend of oils and cooking techniques, which can be seen in the different color variations among black soap.
What is it good for?
The African Black Soap has been used for a long time to treat troubled skin. It's good for fine wrinkles, dark spots, eczema., razor bumps, and clearing blemishes, acne, and rashes. It is also used as a light exfoliator. The soap can also be used on your hair, to treat scalp irritations. The plantain skins give the soap Vitamin A & E, and iron. Because the soap has the highest shea butter content of any soap, it also offers UV protection. The soap is also good for sensitive skin, meaning it's a good option for babies or the elderly.

Bars weigh at least 6 oz each at the packaging
This is a handmade soap made in small batches, the weight and appearance of each bar may vary slightly. All soaps are fully cured for 4 - 6 weeks and ready to use. Allow your soap to dry between uses to keep it longer with an open ladder soap tray. This soap is vegan friendly and 100% natural.
WARNINGS: Skin dryness/peeling may occur due to skin rejuvenating itself. Follow up with a light moisturizer after use. If dryness continues for more than a few days, discontinue use. If you or a family member have any known allergies, please review the ingredient list/consult a physician before use.
For best results use 1-2 days out the week to lessen dryness and cut the soap in half and store the rest in a cool dry place until needed. Soap gets softer and darker in color when wet and depletes fast in a very hot or steamy bathroom. Follow a healthy diet and drink the daily recommended amount of water when using this soap. Remember to eat clean to heal your skin from the inside out.
